About the Author
Dan Puncochar�was most recently manager of Corporate Quality Assurance for the world’s�largest truck manufacturer. His career spanned 30 years.�Previously, he held positions in the Engineering Test Lab and in the Corporate Training Department, where he instructed production workers in basic and advanced courses in machine technology.�He also taught�quality assurance�inspectors blueprint reading and GD&T – among other courses -- and subsequently was called on to teach GD&T throughout the Corporation.�

Ken Evans�is a machine tool Sales Engineer for a leading distributor of metal cutting and quality control equipment and services. Previously, he was a Machine Tool Technology instructor at Davis Applied Technology College (Utah), where he taught for nearly 20 years. Ken started in the machining trade at Cessna Aircraft in 1976. He has since held a wide variety of machining and related jobs throughout his career: Machine Tool Technology Instructor, Prototype CNC Machinist, Quality Control Inspector, Mold Maker, Tool & Die Maker. Confusing, maybe contradictory, there are better books on GD&T

I bought this book because I have a basic understanding of mechanical drawings and I wanted to add GD&T to my skill set. I found myself totally confused by many of the topics. Sometimes I felt like what was stated on one page was contradicted on the next one. I felt like this book might be mostly a regurgitation of the standard, but I don't have the standard to compare it to so that's just a guess. It just has that feel of super dry wording where the exact meaning of each sentence hangs on nuance, which you typically find in a specification. Even if we assume the book is totally accurate, it would then be a book that you have to study and puzzle over every sentence in order to learn anything. I gave this book three days of study and returned it.

I then bought GD&T Application and Interpretation by Bruce A. Wilson, Fifth Edition. After an hour of thumbing through my new book I am already much happier. My new book is logically structured, provides great examples and gives paraphrased meaning and additional explanations to topics that might be hard to grasp at first - in other words, I can read through it and learn without being terribly confused and I can pause to study the parts that might be a bit more difficult.

This book irks me in layout and written comprehension.

This book is a good overview of the GD&T system. However, the book itself is not written very well. There are occasional typos, such as the word "Flatness" at the bottom of the first paragraph on page 60, Chapter 6. Page layout is poor when pairing figures with text. Some paragraphs begin or continue between figure layout, but in such a way that only one or two lines of text are written (Chapter 6, pages 59 and 79 for instance). This makes reading continually difficult as you must search for the missing piece of the paragraph.
Mostly, however, I have a problem with the Evaluation portion of each chapter. I realize that whoever wrote the questions was trying to refrain from restating chapter material word for word. I suspect they overthought the process, causing the wording to be grammatically incorrect or overly ambiguous. For example (again from Chapter 6, page 85), "Circularity control applies to feature surfaces during one complete revolution as measures _____ of a surface or axis is in a straight line." The answer is "radially" according to the answer key located in the back of the book. No matter how I read the sentence (whether by reading it straight through, adding commas, or changing my inflection), I cannot understand the sentence. I understand the concept. I understand Circularity is measured radially. I would never have guessed that the word in that blank would be "radially" in that particular sentence.
The lack of clarifying the summarized concepts in the Evaluations portion has brought my grade down. My instructor has advised me that I may look to the answer key when I am at a loss for understanding what is being asked of me. I do not like resorting to this practice, however. It is not befitting the habits of an Honors student.

This text covers parts of GD&T that are simply left out of other books such as interpreting compound feature control frames. I highly recommend this book.

The book is phenomenal, it's an action plan book and not one of those philosophical type of book.�It will help you find your inner drive to conquer yourself and start doing what you want to do. The book is clear and well written and it gets to the point without being too preachy. It's filled with quotes, inspiration and hopes​ that we will all have the capability to change yourself for the better.�It's a great step by step book for anyone who's looking to make a change in their life. I am so glad�i�did the right choice getting myself a copy of this book. It was just fantastic.�No minutes with Tyler Green are ever, ever wasted, And that's truly saying a lot.�In this book, he hones in on the major tips on�self discipline. Essentially, there needs to be a lot of hard work before you can reap the rewards. You need to keep things in focus and not let the goals be fuzzy. I think this is the perfect size for a motivational book.�Just the essential stuff and no fillers.

I have always a big believer of the fact that self-discipline is the only way to come out as a winner in any place that has competitive environment. And where do we not find a fierce competition today? It's everywhere. In other words, self-discipline today is not an option but almost a basic need for survival. This book was as to the point as a book can be. The endless yet simple tips, the easy language, the wisdom that could have been acquired only through experience -- you name it, and this book has it covered. I am glad I bought this book as part of my self improvement initiative.

I believe the word "great" does not serve this book enough credit nor enough recognition to the author. Self discipline has always been a struggle for me. I have read many motivational and self help books in the past and this book is one of those that provide helpful tips and secrets as to achieving constant discipline and looking at the long term goal. Self discipline gets this done. I am glad to have known and read this book. Will let my brother read this too.

This is One of the Best Books that I've ever read this month.

I truly learn a lot from this book. The wisdom, experiences, and learning of Tyler Green has made this book an awesome book.

I believe this book has been created with a heart to help a lot of people in the world.
There are so much value that anyone can gain from this book.
Honestly, when I read a book, I always take down notes, and from this book alone, I've used almost 8pages, just for taking the key take-aways from this book. That is pretty fantastic, right?

Yes, that's true.. but among all the learnings I have, here are some of the thought provoking things I could say triggered me to apply as well in my life:
- Attach a purpose to your Goal
(For me, this one gives me an idea that I do not just need to have a goal, but I also must have a reason or a 'why', why I want to achieve the goal)

This book is just the kick in the butt I needed. While the voice of the book is very firm, it puts you in your place, makes you take a good hard look at yourself and then helps to build you back up one step at a time. It contains all the lessons without all the fluff, which is what other longer books contain. It is a great one-stop shop that contains ideas, theories and procedures I have come across in other books, courses or programs. If you get one book to becoming successful, this would be it!

Great story about a woman's entire life

Great story about a woman's entire life, her family and career, then friends she meets along the way and choices she makes that affect her and others. It kept me very interested even though it's a long book but I was anxious to get to the next page. The ending was bittersweet but was so very good. I recommend it for a snowbound or rainy weekend.

This book will help make a FPS game with minimal coding by using assets from Unity's Asset store. Some of these assets will cost you but if your serious about your hobby like me then these are great purchases. The author will walk you through how to set it up with these tools which is great because you can easily spend hours scouring You Tube trying to find something like this which you may eventually find in different places or you will just give up looking. He makes it easy for you with it all in one place. I'm not an expert on Unity or coding but found this book very easy to follow and had my own little game setup with bots very quickly. But do remember some of these assets like UFPS (this is the only one that is required for you to purchase the other one is Shooter AI but you could use Rain AI which is free) will cost you $95 but it is something worth purchasing, just like any hobby you have to spend some money (like buying this book). I think its a very good starting point for you if your interested in FPS games and wish there were more like this.

Literally in the first chapter you are told to drop $75 on a asset package in the Unity Store - and the book is pretty useless if you can't.
Would have given 5 stars if the author could have negotiated a contract with UFPS for readers to get discount/free with purchase of book.

About the Author

Douglas C. Giancoli obtained his BA in physics (summa cum laude) from UC Berkeley, his MS in physics at MIT, and his PhD in elementary particle physics back at the UC Berkeley. He spent 2 years as a post-doctoral fellow at UC Berkeley’s Virus lab developing skills in molecular biology and biophysics. His mentors include Nobel winners Emilio Segrè and Donald Glaser.

 

He has taught a wide range of undergraduate courses, traditional as well as innovative ones, and continues to update his textbooks meticulously, seeking ways to better provide an understanding of physics for students.

 

Doug’s favorite spare-time activity is the outdoors, especially climbing peaks. He says climbing peaks is like learning physics: it takes effort and the rewards are great.

This was a great physics textbook. I won't say that it gave me all the answers to making it through college physics, but it did have good explanations in it and the homework problems were good thinking problems. Overall it was a good book to have to help with the course.

great book.

this book is a great physics book to use in conjunction with a skilled professor. On its own it is very straight forward but as with most math/science books there are symbols that need to be explained and the proofs in the book are accurate. The cd that comes with it are very helpful and i reccomend it to everyone about to take the course, not sure how much just reading the book can teach one though, so make sure that you do have a reliable source of instruction.

About the Author

Keven A. Prusak, PhD, is an assistant professor of physical education pedagogy at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. He has been working with youth for the past 18 years. Prusak's area of expertise is the study of motivation in physical education. He believes that physical education teachers and youth sport coaches should strive to create a positive and successful experience for all kids. As a professor of physical education, Prusak prepares teachers and coaches to teach in the public school setting.

Prusak received the 1990 Outstanding Teacher Award from the Box Elder School District and the 2002 Lawrence F. Locke Dissertation Award. He regularly makes presentations and conducts workshops for physical educators across the country.

I found creative games, ideas, and ways to teach complicated ideas to my 4 year olds to kindergarten players. They all made a basket this season and showed great improvement. This is one of two tools I used and really found it helped.

Decent for babies

I bought this book for my 6 month old son. It is decent for him but once he gets a bit older it will be too simple. Each page contains one or two word in French with the English also. Wished they had more than just words...maybe a sentence to use the words in context. Not a great learning tool, more of a novelty.

Excellent buy

For whatever reason, I'd put off reading Lovecraft for years. I'm really glad I finally got around to it. Having a lot of time off during the Holidays I knew I needed some good reading to keep me and my brain occupied, so I purchased this title as well as a couple more.

Well, what can I say but, "wow", this is why he's considered one of the most important American writers ever. Every story here grabs you right from the start and doesn't let go. Now I'm finally "in" on the Cthulhu mythos and feel as if I've made my myself a more well-rounded reader as well as having expanded my vocabulary a bit.

Also this particular hardcover edition from Fall River is quite a bargain, it's a nice quality edition for a bargain price, I actually only paid 8 bucks, brand new, at a local book store. If you're in need of a collection of Lovecraft stories, this is a good one.

Chilling read

So this is the "greatest hits" of Lovecraft. I've never read his material before, and after reading this book I will continue collecting and reading different stories. Just wonderful, every story will make you stop and consider, then SHIVER!!!!
